BISD is the official compilation of documents in hardcopy, but it contains only selected documents. Each volume has an index. BISD does not contain WTO panel and Appellate Body reports or arbitration awards. For these, BISD refers researchers to the Dispute Settlement Reports co-published by the WTO and Cambridge University Press.

Over 150,000 documents in the three official languages, English, French and Spanish, from 1995 to present, with selected documents from 1986-94, primarily Uruguay Round documents.
