WTO/GATT Research: Find disputes by topic, article number, etc.

Designed to produce methodical and comprehensive research into the dispute reports, awards and decisions of the WTO. Use the "Research Tools" to identify jurisprudence that has dealt with subjects, articles of the agreements, rules of treaty interpretation (e.g., Vienna Convention; DSU), and particular terms and phrases. Other tools include a full-text search engine; citators for the WTO jurisprudence and the GATT 1947/GATT Code jurisprudence showing whether, where and how the jurisprudence has been subsequently cited by the Appellate Body, panels and arbitrators in the context of legal reasoning and findings; and a tool for determining if the DSB Minutes contain discussion about particular policy or issues arising from the jurisprudence.

The free part of this website provides full texts of the WTO and NAFTA agreements; GATT panel reports, WTO panel and appellate reports and arbitration decisions; and NAFTA Chapters 19 and 20 decisions and other NAFTA decisions, but not Chapter 11. Paid subscribers also get a search engine for the disputes, the editors' WTO Dispute Settlement Commentaries, the WTO Case Law Index to the Commentaries, and Subject-Matter Pages that list WTO disputes and GATT reports by major topics.

This full-text reporter has a subject index and finding lists by country, articles of the agreements, and other WTO documents and reports cited in the reports. The Law Library has 1996-2005.
