Bloomberg Terminal

A guide on how to use and access the Bloomberg Terminals at the NYU Law Library

Who can access the Bloomberg Terminal?

Bloomberg must be used at the terminal; there is no remote access

The Bloomberg Terminals are available to NYU Law School faculty and students via a reservation system. You will be able to reserve the terminals for two hours at a time. The username and password to access the computers with the terminal software in the Law Library will be sent to you by email after signing up. Click the link below to book a terminal.

Alumni, visitors, guests, consortial borrowers (MaRLI, OCLC Shares, etc.) are not eligible for access and are encouraged to visit New York Public Library's Bloomberg terminals.

Do not, under any circumstances, share your Bloomberg account credentials with another person or allow them to use your account.

How do I log on to the Bloomberg computer and Terminal?

  1. Log on to the computer with the username and password sent to your email after booking a terminal.
  2. Double-click on the green Bloomberg icon to launch the terminal.
  3. Log on to Bloomberg by using your personal Bloomberg Terminal account. (This is not your NetID. If you do not have an account, go to How do I create a login and account?)
  4. Always log out of the software and log off of the computer after you're done.

How do I create a login and account?

Double-click on the green Bloomberg icon to launch the terminal.

After opening the Bloomberg software from the desktop:

  1. Select "Create New Login" below the username and password fields on the login screen.
  2. Follow the prompts to set up an account.
  3. Use your personal cell phone number for both your work and mobile number.
  4. Use your NYU email address in the "Corporate Email Address" field. (Non-NYU emails will be rejected.)
  5. Have your mobile phone at the ready, because text is the fastest authentication method. (Hit <GO>/Enter after inputting the validation code to activate the "Next" button, otherwise it will not allow you to advance.)

Do not, under any circumstances, share your Bloomberg account credentials with another person or allow them to use your account.

Why create a personal account?

  • Save searches, screens, league tables, etc.
  • Customize the interface and dashboards.
  • Use the messenger feature under your own name.
