Google Books, Amazon and Publisher websites often provide "previews" of the text, or, in other words a limited view of selection of pages. You can often use this preview to identify a portion of the text--like a chapter--that may meet your needs. Book chapters tend to be faster to obtain via interlibrary loan and are usually completely touch-less (as they usually arrive electronically).
